Madeleine Sheahan

“I am committed to helping my clients tackle family litigation with personalized solutions that employ modern, forward-looking strategies and efficiencies.”

Domestic relations is an increasingly complex area of law and requires a demanding set of experience, skills, and knowledge. An intelligent and careful analysis of complex circumstances is needed, together with an authoritative–while sensitive–approach to guide clients and obtain the best possible outcomes in what is often the most difficult time of their lives. Given the nature of our clients’ problems, we understand that our work does not end at the issuance of a Decree. There is an importance in providing a continuing and comprehensive sort of support. Here, we build relationships.

Madeleine’s Experience

Madeleine joined the BAM family as a law clerk upon her graduation from the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law in the top 15 percent of her class. She was promoted to associate attorney after being admitted to the Colorado Bar in November, 2018.

Madeleine is a talented legal mind with significant trial skills, and in law school received the Advocate’s Cup 2017 Best Advocate Award. She was a National Ethics Trial Competition Finalist and a member of the National Trial Team. Madeleine also received the Westminster Law Library Certificate in Legal Research and a LexisNexis Professional Research Certificate. Madeleine’s skills in developing trial strategy through excellent legal research, persuasive trial presentation, and attention to detail have set her up for a brilliant legal career, and BAM is thrilled to have her start that career amongst its ranks.

In the spring of 2017, Madeleine worked as a judicial extern for U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Kristen L. Mix. Prior to joining BAM, she worked as a summer associate for a Greenwood Village law firm, where she assisted with litigation and real estate matters.

Madeleine earned her B.A. in Spanish Languages and Literatures from CSU in 2015, graduating Cum Laude, while also earning her B.S. in Business Administration, also Cum Laude. Madeleine earned three scholarships from legal organizations to attend DU Law, where she was president of the National Women’s Law Organization and President of the Spanish Speaking Lawyers Association.

Madeleine’s skills have been further developed outside the classroom. Over the past five years, she has interned and volunteered for a variety of non-profits, legal organizations and area law firms.

Madeleine enjoys doing pro bono work and donating her time to non-profit organizations. She interned for Colorado Legal Services and in 2016 she worked as a project manager for the Tribal Wills Project at the Nenahnezad Reservation in New Mexico.

Madeleine spends her time outside of the courtroom enjoying skiing, sailing, college football, Broadway musicals, and participating as a Judge Arguello “Law School Yes We Can” mentor.
