Heather Broxterman Featured in Law Week Colorado

An opinion piece by BAM co-founder Heather Broxterman has been featured in Law Week Colorado.

“Women, Wives, Mothers …and Harrison Butker” looks at the Kansas City Chiefs football player’s recent controversial commencement address, where he urged women to “lean in” to their roles as women, wives and mothers.

Heather’s article cautions that the romanticization of women’s roles in this manner is problematic for a variety of reasons, including the fact that Family Courts are not set up to keep stay-at-home parents financially secure and that maintenance/alimony are often severely limited.

Heather concludes that couples should have a conversation about the implications of taking on the role of stay-at-home spouse and she urges them to make a disaster plan in case things don’t turn out as planned.
