BAM Co-Sponsors DU Event Supporting At-Risk Indigenous Youth

BAM Family Law was a proud sponsor of a January 28 basketball clinic at the University of Denver in support of Rise Above, a Washington state-based nonprofit that works on behalf of at-risk indigenous youth.

The clinic included several celebrity guests and Native Tribe members including legendary former Denver Nuggets Coach, George Karl, Milwaukee Bucks Assistant Coach Vin Baker, Milwaukee Bucks player MarJon Beauchamp (Mission and Luiseno Tribe member), 1996 Olympic Gold Medal-winner Carla McGhee, former Denver Bronco Karl Paymah, and Rise Above Co-Founder Jaci McCormack.
The event dovetailed with Rise Above’s ongoing mission to combat rising rates of poverty, suicide, and depression in Native youth by offering education and basketball programs with tribes and other partners.

The DU clinic hosted 115 campers, with kids coming from as far away as Iowa and Utah.
BAM co-founding partner Kyle McFarlane was in attendance. “It was gratifying to see so many kids enjoying expert instruction from basketball legends,” she said. “BAM is so proud to support Rise Above in its community building activities through basketball, fitness, and cultural empowerment!”
